State of The Industry

Business in general for the Connector Industry as we close out the 1st quarter of 2017 is very good and the outlook for the future is bullish with the continued expansion of electronic devices into all aspects of modern life from cars that drive themselves to the Internet of Things (IoT) connecting many devices/appliances in our homes to our hand-held devices so you can control almost all the functions in your home, from lights to HVAC to security systems from any location to the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) where companies are connecting their manufacturing equipment to central locations to better control costs, product quality and equipment maintenance. Fortunately for the Connector Industry all of these applications require connectors and cables to enable them. All and all the future for the Electronic Connector Industry seems very bright indeed.

 

Mergers and Acquistions & Other News

HARTING, Elgin, IL, a Technology Group, family owned and based in Germany of connectivity solutions that focuses on multiple levels, from the machine to the device and into the communication infrastructure, has expanded their global partnership with Arrow Electronics, Centennial, CO, a global provider of products, services, and solutions to industrial and commercial users of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions. A correlating agreement was signed between Arrow Electronics and HARTING at the fair trade “electronica” in Munich. Arrow Electronics has been a HARTING distributor in North America for 22 years. Over that time span, Arrow has grown to be one of the largest distributors of HARTING products in North America, posting record sales in 2015 and 2016.

HARTING, Elgin, IL, a Technology Group, family owned and based in Germany of connectivity solutions that focuses on multiple levels, from the machine to the device and into the communication infrastructure, announced a distribution agreement with Heilind Electronics, Wilmington, MA. A leading distributor of connectors, switches, relays, terminal blocks and wire & cable with over 30 locations throughout North America. Both companies expressed their excitement with the agreement and their expectations for the future. HARTING will provide Heilind’s customers with its world-class connectivity solutions. Heilind will, in turn, increase HARTING’s growth even more through their online sales and industry presence. Heilind has a very dedicated customer base that they are looking forward to supporting with HARTING products. They firmly believe that this partnership will help them reach their goals.

Molex, Lisle, IL, a global manufacturer of complete interconnect solutions, has entered into agreement with MB Connect Line GmbH, Dinkelsbühl, Germany, a manufacturer of Remote maintenance and Network Security products and solutions. MB connect line sets the pace in industrial data communication and remote maintenance of machines and equipment via the internet. They are very pleased to be collaborating with MB Connect Line. The agreement supports their direction to facilitate more Ethernet connected devices, expands their product offering with complete end to end network solutions and gives customer access to our combined capabilities and best-in-class network communications systems on a global level. This will bring their unique products to their IoT focus and strategy. This agreement will also enable more industrial communication protocols to their solutions and expand their remote maintenance technology into OEM network communication market.

Panduit, Tinley Park, IL, a leading global provider of network infrastructure solutions and General Cable (NYSE:BGC), Highland Heights, KY, a global manufacturer of aluminum, cooper, fiber optic wire and cable products announced the expansion of their PanGen partnership for Fiber System Solutions. PanGen Fiber System Solutions combine Panduit fiber optic connectivity with general Cable’s NextGen Brand fiber optic cabling for a highly integrated and engineered solution. The new Fiber Rapid Fulfillment Program provides installers and contractors maximum flexibility and convenience, while eliminating waste and excess inventory.

Molex, Lisle, IL, a global manufacturer of complete interconnect solutions, has completed acquisition of Phillips-Medisize Corporation, San Fransico, CA based private equity investment firm, Golden Gate Capital. Phillips-Medisize will operate as an indirect subsidiary of Molex, LLC. Phillips-Medisize brings strong capabilities to Molex in the medical solutions market globally. Combining Molex’s expertise in electronics and our broad manufacturing presence with Phillips- Medisizes’ talented and experienced team will help us better serve the growing needs of the global market for innovative connected health solutions. Phillips-Medisize and Molex together create a strong alignment for continued growth in the connected health solutions market, while maintaining focus on quality, service and innovation. Phillips-Medisize is a leading global outsource provider with a focus on medical solutions that include delivery, mobile and portable medical devices and primary pharmaceutical packaging and diagnostic products, including disposable insulin pens, glucose meters, inhalation drug delivery devices, single use surgical devices and             consumable diagnostic components. Molex brings together innovation and technology to deliver electronic solutions to customers worldwide.

Molex, Lisle, IL, a global manufacturer of complete interconnect solutions announced a strategic global collaboration and investment in Excelfore Corporation, Fremont, CA an innovation Silicon Valley provider of cloud platform and connectivity applications for intelligent transportation. Excelfore Corporation specializes in middleware solutions for smart mobility networks that support next-generation smart, autonomous and learning vehicles, fleets and associated infrastructure. Excelfore automotive software products enable communication between automotive components and cloud-based servers, automotive fleet monitoring and provision of Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) and Software Over the Air (SOTA) updates. Excelfore expands the Molex portfolio of I/O interconnect and module solutions serving a range of powertrain, networking, media module and lighting applications for the automotive and connected vehicle sector. The collaboration will support development of new end-to-end vehicle networking solutions. Together, Molex and Excelfore will provide complete intelligent vehicle systems integrating the hardware, software and technical services needed to advance adoption of the next- generation connected platforms in today’s vehicles.

An Effective Resume

The purpose of your resume is to get an interview and the interview lands you the job. Your goal is to communicate as clearly and descriptive as possible, when creating an effective resume. Your fonts matter. Be sure to opt for basic fonts. Choose fonts that both the hiring managers and applicant management systems can easily read. Keep it simple. Use Arial, Verdana, Calibri and Times New Roman fonts, for they work the best. Applicant Management Systems’ sometimes have a hard time picking up colors which can leave gaps in your resume, be sure to use black and white. Choose fonts size between 10 and 12, making it easier for hiring managers and potential interviewers to read through your resume.

Make your name stand out. Making it slightly larger and different, placing it at the top center of your resume, with your full contact information. Be consistent, but basic. Have your information in reverse chronological order. Selectively apply capitalization, bold, italics, underlining or any other emphasizing features. Using bullets to call attention to the important points. Spend time developing a summary that gets attention. Customize and be creative with your skills and abilities, matching them to your job descriptions and the job postings. Making sure your professional achievements, such as your education, certifications, certificates and dates are consistent and correct with your experience and positions.
