Job Overview

Our client  a distributor of electronic connectors is seeking an project engineer with experience in the desing and manufacturing of Cable Assemblies. The successful candidate will become part of a small, passionate team, they will be highly influential in the development and growth of the company’s business. This is a hands-on position that will involve you in all aspects of customer programs including engineering, design, manufacturing and test. The position requires close customer interaction as part of a cross-functional team, and will work closely with internal stakeholders, manufacturing personnel and external suppliers to support the development and validation of product prototypes through production. You will collaborate with the sales team when interfacing with customers, so effective communication skills are required. 


·         Provide leadership and manage the complete product life cycle starting from voice of customer, prototyping, product testing, product qualification and project execution.

  • Utilize your technical expertise to influence designs and resources.
  • Present product concepts to customers early in the development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate any revised requirements into the design.
  • Define material choices based on application requirements including selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, back shells, cable and wire, and EMI/RFI shielding requirements.
  • Reading and interpreting customer drawings and schematics
  • Create harness detail drawings and schematics, including 2D or 3D drawings.
  • Develop project cost estimates and schedules for programs.
  • Create, maintain and communicate detailed schedules, ensuring the team is aware of tasks and deadlines, including resource identification and acquisition
  • Work with suppliers and team members to generate relevant instructions and documentation.
  • Review and approve first time build cable assemblies, and resolve cable design or manufacturing issues.
  • Identify opportunities for technical or process improvements, including DFM initiatives.
  • Develop tooling and die designs to support programs requiring over-molding
  • Perform team member evaluations
  • Interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team.


  • Must have strong understanding of cable assembly design and manufacturing, connectors, and injection or over-molding.
  • Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Requires a self-starter who has the ability to prioritize, multitask, and interfacing directly with customers.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and turning high-level requirements into clear design/test objectives
  • Familiar with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/620A
  • B.S. degree or higher in an appropriate engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience designing and manufacturing cable assemblies or wire harnesses
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder)
  • Functional knowledge of MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with ISO-9001 and AS-9100 standards preferred
