Position Summary:
Responsible for design and development ofoptical products for 100Gbps signaling and beyond. The individual will beresponsible for developing active optical cable and optical transceiverproducts and supporting the development of test systems and productqualifications. The position requires close customer interaction withdevelopment of product requirements and specifications. The engineering teamhelps define the roadmap and strategy for Amphenol’s fast growing businesses incloud computing and large datacenter deployments.
Detailed Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, debug andsupport of active optical cable and optical transceiver products at 25Gbps,100Gbps, 400Gbps, and beyond.
• Lead the schematic and PCBAdesign for active optical cable and transceiver products.
• Lead the optical design,including micro-optics, optical alignment, and simulation, for active opticalcable and transceiver product.
• Define and source criticalcomponents, such as light source, laser driver, TIA, PD, for high-speedapplication.
• Establish product testingprocedure; Identify test requirement and equipment for optical productcharacterizations.
• Work hand-in-hand withfirmware engineer in the development of active optical cable and transceiverproducts.
• Work with testengineer/technician on Engineering Verification Tests (EVT) and Design VerificationTests (DVT).
• Work with NPI and processengineers on new product introduction to manufacturing sites.
• Work with mechanicalintegrity team and mechanical design team in the development of active opticalcable and transceiver products.
• Attend conferences andexhibitions, such as OFC, ECOC, and DesignCon to provide technical presence.
• Work with frond-end team tovisit customers and provide technical support.
• Visit manufacturing plantsduring product ramp up, as needed.
• Advanced degree in EE,Optical Engineering, or relevant fields and 2~5 years of industry experience inoptical transceiver design, validation, and fiber optics components.
• Experience with circuittheory, high-speed design, signal integrity, and power integrity.
• Experience with PCB/Adesign.
• Experience in micro-optics,optical alignment, and optical simulation.
• Experience with activeoptical cable and transceiver manufacturing.
• Good understanding in activeoptical cable and transceiver architectures.
• Good understanding in fiberoptics, waveguide theory, laser theory, physical optics, and ray-tracingtechniques.
• Good understanding inhigh-speed SerDes, PAM4, and CDRs (both analog and digital).
• Proficient with tools suchas Cadence Capture, Allegro, PSPICE, or similar.
• Proficient with numericaltools such as HFSS, Zemax, Lumerical, Comsol, or similar.
• Understanding offinite-element, finite-difference, FDTD numerical techniques.
• Working knowledge ofROSA/TOSA design, silicon photonics, modulations, DMLs, EMLs, etc.
• Work experience inmulti-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Knowledge of system leveland channel/link modeling.
• Good understanding ofoptical transceiver technical evolution.
• Good time management skills.
• Strong written and verbalcommunication skills.
