Job Overview

Our Client a global manufacture of electronic and electrical interconnects, designs and manufactures Electro-Mechanical Assemblies and Value-Add Interconnect Solutions with their global customers and partners which are enabling then Electronics Revolution across virtually every end market, including Automotive,Broadband Communications, Industrial, Information Technology and Data Communications, Military and Mobile Networks. Their primary end products include custom cable assemblies & complex wire harnesses, engineered busbar& power solutions, high-speed backplanes and PCBA.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Field Applications Engineer to work from a home office and be responsible for providing field engineering support at current and new customers in North America for applications that require a significant focus on power distribution and conversion technology. This role will report to Field Applications Engineer Manager.

Thisposition will be responsible for offering on-site customer engineering and development support across several divisions for all power related products.They will work with the Sales, Product Development and Marketing Teams to identify & develop new markets and target customers, They will interface with Engineering, Quality, Product Marketing an Field Sales teams to communicate customer needs and follow up on open action items from face to face meetings, provide first response support on quality excursions and on site customer support and technical back up when needed. This position helps to coordinate, support and educate the the company’s sales teams in the area of advanced power distribution and conversion technologies and will be the main Power Engineering interface with customers in North America

Responsibilities

Develop personal relationships and rapport with key design influencers at selected key accounts.
Assist Field Sales in the development and implementation of strategies targeted at increased business volume.
Promote Amphenol products and assists customers in selecting the correct parts to fit the application and/or design the product solutions that fit the customer’s need.
Design component and/or value-added assemblies, (computer generated as required), and communicate them to Engineering to formalize a design.
Assist in the investigation of potential engineering and/or quality issues that may arise.
Establishes and maintains an organized inventory of product literature and samples.
Communicate with factory personnel in an accurate and concise manner
Deliver prototype samples as needed.
Collect competitive data and reports to Sales and Marketing.
Represent the Company in the marketplace and develop positive customer attitudes towards the Company.
Control expenses appropriate to performance and scope.
Participate in industry standards, events and training sessions to remain current with new developments in Power Conversion Technologies and ensure that these industry developments are well communicated within AGIS’s organization.
Understand and follow applicable Company practices, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Power Electronics is preferred. Strong Mechanical Design experience a plus.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in design of electro/mechanical assemblies.
Working knowledge and application of principles and techniques commonly employed in Power Conversion systems including but not limited to Power Modules, Low-Inductance Laminated Busbars and Partial-Discharge requirements.
Working understanding of applicable standards that are advantageous to the Customer’s designs and projects such as UL840, IEC60664, and IP ratings.
Be able to utilize CAD Software (SolidWorks a plus)
Must be highly organized and have a focus on details and accuracy.
Well-developed interpersonal/communication skills.
Demonstrates self-initiative and is proactive.
Ability to Multi-task.
A Basic Knowledge of French would be helpful but not required.
Work from a home office and be able to travel up to 30% – domestically.
