ENGINEERING MANAGER – CONNECTION SYSTEMS
As a member of the E-Systems management team, the Product Development Engineering Manager – Connection Systems will be responsible for leading the development and flawless launch of new connector and terminals for the products aligned with market trends and vertical integration opportunities leading to profitable growth.
The Role
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
· Lead Engineering Team
o Lead engineering team. Direct reports include engineering supervisors, application engineers and 3D printing dept.
o Enhance the definition and refine the design and development process.
o Secure adherence to all internal and external standards, policies, and laws
o Support escalation of quality claims and alignment of engineering / lab team direction.
o Promotion of teamwork and leading the team to define and achieve objectives
o Ensure good motivation and engagement is present within the team
o Evaluation of employee skills and training requirements
o Provide mentoring to potential leaders in the organization
o Vet and hire new talent
Actively support development of global product roadmap
o Participate in benchmarking/ research into new technology areas
o Developments may be outside of traditional CS product types.
· Leverage global cross functional capabilities
· Guide engineering through RFQ process and TDR preparations
· Present the company’s CS Engineering capabilities and product focus to customers in TDR
· Strategic planning of Vertical Integration product to EDS
Manage budget
o Current year month end close and forecasting
o “Next year” budget
o Approval of spend
o Execution of corporate cost reduction “tasks”
o Managing of 3D printing recoveries
· Build cooperative relationship between adjacent departments
· Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Cost and Price, EDS, Electronics, High Power, Seating, Lab, Quality …
· Support lab to enhance Connection Systems validation capabilities.
· Support CTO activities (cost saving initiatives) to ensure we hit our annual targets by ensuring a roadmap is developed by attending regularly scheduled workshops with clear take away actions (who is doing what by when)
Your Qualifications
· 8+ years of relevant experience in the design of connectors, terminals for he automotive industry
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline
· Demonstrated ability to analyze business needs and propose product features
and business models to address
